Orcas Island by Kevin N. Murphy
Kirk and Picard: Since I’d been watching Star Trek The Next Generation on blu-ray recently, I decided I’d watch Star Trek Generations today on Film 4. I didn’t like it, I thought the story wasn’t that good, it didn’t have the same feel of The Next Generation, and they were inconsistent with the uniforms. As trivial as that may sound; to have Picard wear his usual uniform at the start of the movie, then switch to a new uniform (above) and then at the end of the movie he was back to his old one, just summed the movie up for me. Lazy.
About personal related stuff but now I genuinely don’t feel like doing it.
And yet I am.

This was a pleasant surprise on my dash, forgot about this blog.
I think I’ll be getting a PS4 then. And I think it’ll take a monumental cock-up for Sony to not win the next-gen console war. Although I’m not taking into account wildcard entrants like Steam (if they do create a games console).

Fairweather Friends // Queens of the Stone Age
I don’t get it. I keep looking at this, and reading it loud, thinking I’m going to get it and I still don’t get it.
All in one. Input one.
What?!?
Excellent
The new Queens of the Stone Age album is officially released today. It’s probably the most anticipated new album for me personally, in a long time.
Even though I’ve been streaming it in itunes for the last week, it’s not the same as actually physically owning it.
Anyway, it’s a really great album - I read a review saying it’s surprisingly focused for a QOTSA album, and it is focused. I think you can hear the genuine emotion in the songs musically and certainly lyrically.
QOTSA albums of the past have been “dark” but I think there are times on ‘Like Clockwork’ where it’s really dark. And it’s all because of Josh’s near death experience during knee surgery. He said in NME he felt “pieces of me were missing”. NME summed up the album by saying it’s their best since ‘Songs for the Deaf’ and that’s very true.
